Recognized as one of the most talented, versatile, and virtuosic drummers of the new generation, Valentin Liechti stands out for his personal and imaginative musical style. Born in Geneva, his musical talent became evident at an early age, and he began performing on stage as a teenager. Very quickly, his mentors were amazed by his singular artistic vision and his phenomenal improvisational abilities.

He was soon sought after by renowned jazz artists who invited him to perform on various tours. He has thus performed with Erik Truffaz, Louis Matute, Arthur Hnatek, and Moncef Genoud. He has toured major festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, JazzOnze+ Festival, JazzContreBand, Cully Jazz Festival, among many others.

With an unconventional background, Valentin Liechti is involved in numerous innovative projects, blending jazz, electronic music, pop, rock, and world music. An outstanding composer and arranger, he is also highly active as a producer, sound engineer, and educator.

In 2023, he founded the Valentin Liechti Trio with Australian bassist Rodrigo Aravena and French trumpeter Shems Bendali. Together, the three artists create a hybrid and decidedly modern jazz, combining virtuosity with electronic soundscapes. Following the success of its first album, the trio released a second opus in 2026, entitled NOW WHAT?.
