Sampa The Great is stepping into her most powerful era yet. The Zambian-born rapper, singer, and visionary has long been celebrated as one of global hip-hop’s most compelling voices.

Her journey has been marked by groundbreaking achievements. From her debut mixtapes The Great Mixtape and Birds and the Bee9—which earned her the Australian Music Prize (making her the only artist to win twice)—to her transformative debut album The Return, which saw her claim four ARIA Awards, a J Award for Double J Australian Artist of the Year, and recognition as a BET Amplified Artist of the Month, Sampa has continuously pushed artistic and cultural boundaries. Internationally, she has graced some of the world’s biggest stages, from Coachella and Glastonbury to NPR’s Tiny Desk and Later… With Jools Holland.

Relocating back to Zambia in 2020 marked a pivotal shift in her artistry, deepening her connection to her roots and shaping her sonic evolution. As Above, So Below was a defining moment—a homecoming that blended global hip-hop with the sounds of her heritage propelling her and her Zambian band through a transformative period of performances and international acclaim.

Recent years have seen her collaborate with Denzel Curry, Angelique Kidjo, The Avalanches, Baker Boy, Emmanuel Jagari Chanda (W.I.T.C.H.) amongst others, proving her ability to seamlessly transcend genres and expectations. She is currently working on her fourth album, executive produced by Cadenza and fully embracing the electrifying energy of Zamrock, this will be her most ambitious and definitive work to date. This project represents not just an evolution but a revolution in her artistry.

A global artistic visionary in the truest sense of the term, Sampa The Great brings the essence of her culture together with a powerful and forward thinking blend of sonic influences; creating a contemporary sound that has illuminated one of music’s most unique and exciting creative journeys.
